2015 Triumph Tiger XRX
The Scout is a lovely bike, but there's a sense of mild choking fear when one rides it. Fear because you really don't want to drop it, go anywhere near gravel, go over any rough patches of road and certainly no off roading - either on purpose or by accident. Unless you're quite mad that is.
So I decided for Morocco touring I'd get a more robust Adventure Bike - and chose the Triumph Tiger. I did test ride the Explorer which was a heavier machine but actually it felt too top heavy. The XRX over the XCX because I knew I'd be doing mostly reasonably well made roads. The 800 cc is perfectly fine for me and gives me the speed I need and a comfy ride. By now I'd been riding near on a year so I had gone prepared to buy the bike. Nice easy transaction and I was the proud owner of a new Triumph! |
Ok, it was actually two years old but that's good enough for me. Love depreciation when it works in your favour.
This bike has proved itself worthy - trips through Spain, France, Switzerland, Morocco (not in that order, that would be silly) and a fair number to Wales and across the UK. This bike is versatile, durable and blimmin fun to throw around. Love the sound of the triple engine too. Purrs like a tiger being stroked by a pink feather duster with a chamois leather handle. Upcoming trips - probably Italy and Spain and then I think time to go down to the showroom to get a newer version of this beauty. |
